ABOUT 8035 TRACTION

8035 Traction is a non-profit (501c3) committed to eliminating barriers to entry for wellness-specific services like strength training, functional fitness and nutrition education. Participants have access to multiple cost-free programs, led by trauma and substance abuse informed industry experts and mentors, providing a safe, supportive and inspiring environment. Additionally, all participants have unlimited access to our Traction Shop that offers new and gently used workout gear (including tops, bottoms, socks, shoes, sports bras, etc.) in all sizes, personal care items and non-perishable pantry items, at no cost. There are no requirements or obligations associated with participation, so anybody is welcome. If a participant completes 12 classes, we celebrate their commitment with a gifted t-shirt. For participants who enjoy the program and want to jump into more standardized and frequent classes, 8035 Traction offers scholarship memberships for an unlimited community fitness experience. We believe that by investing in our neighborhood, we can create more accessible opportunities for improved mental, emotional and physical wellbeing lending to an empowered and confident community.

Since our first program launch in November of 2020, we have served over 48 individuals and continue to expand our program offerings and participants. Our Women’s Program launched first, and serves anybody who identifies as a women. The classes are run by trauma informed coaches and mentors, and we partner with Children & Families of Iowa and Beacon of Life as feeder programs (although the program is open to anybody outside those organizations as well). The Men’s Program launched in March of 2021 with the help of our Kingdom Living partnership, and is lead by male coaches and mentors who participated in substance abuse informational training. The Keo Way Crew program will launch this May, 2021, and will focus on individuals living within a 1-2 mile radius of our location (right off Keo Way). It will be a coed, and family-focused program, and we are hopeful that we can eventually implement cost-free meal options following these classes. Finally, our Adaptive Athlete program will launch fall of 2021 and will welcome any differently abled individuals to participate. We are extremely excited about the future of our 8035 Traction programs; we are committed to continuous conversations, program expansion, and positive community impact.

GOLF TOURNAMENT DETAILS

This tournament is a 4-person, 18-hole best-shot at Willow Creek Golf Course in Des Moines, IA. Shot-gun start will begin at 10am, Saturday, August 7th, and we are capping the event at 36 teams.

Tickets are $400/team ($100/person), and includes 18 holes of golf, carts, lunches, tshirts, drink tickets, and raffle tickets. The tournament will include all the classic hole prizes (longest drive, longest putt, etc.) Additionally, teams will have opportunities for additional donations via mulligans, gimmes, apparel purchases, raffle tickets, and more.

We aim to have sponsors on each hole to ensure a fun and interactive event.
