About the Walk:“Sepulveda Basin: Upstream Of Balboa is a 3.6 mile heavily trafficked loop trail located near Encino, California that features a river and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for walking, running, and road biking and is accessible year-round” [AllTrails, 2021]. 3.6mile loop around Encino Municipal Golf Course with a 32ft elevation gain. The trail is both paved and dirt. Seniors and children often frequent this loop for exercise with their family.

Where to Meet: If you’re heading down Hayvenhurst to get to the walk, make a left onto Burbank, followed by a quick right into the first parking lot. There is a second parking lot closer to Balboa (if you can’t find parking), but we will be meeting near the exercise equipment closest to the first parking lot.

Remember due to Covid we will be:

Wearing masks at all times

Keeping a safe distance apart at all times

Bringing our own hand sanitizer

Not attending if we or our immediate families/friends have experienced any common coronavirus symptoms

Attire: A beat up pair of tennis shoes and comfy workout attire (for example I usually wear some leggings, a t-shirt, a baseball cap, and running shoes). All you’ll need is a bottle of water and a safe pocket/bag to store your car keys!

Time: My old coach had a saying, “If you’re on-time, you’re late. If you’re early, you’re on time”. Keep that in mind when planning your commute to the hike, so our group can all leave at the appropriate start time.

Restrooms: You may be able to use the restrooms at the Golf’s restaurant, but plan on a bathroom not being available to you (due to Covid) and be sure to use the restroom before departing for the hike!
