This tournament and program are in memory of Tony, Wiggie, their son Robin and daugh-ter Elizabeth and their son-in-law, Phil, in recognition of their many contributions to the Woodstock Golf Club, the game of golf and the community of Woodstock.
Tony, for many years, a civic leader in Woodstock and a provider of the needs of children in the area, was an integral part of the Woodstock Golf Club for four decades, serving an unprecedented 10 years as President. Known widely as “Mr. Senior Golf,” Tony was the founder of the Ulster County Senior Golf Association and its long-time president. The perpetuation of the Woodstock Golf Club was his enduring commitment.

Wiggie, who came to golf in mid-life, soon became Ulster County’s most renowned women’s golf champion. She garnered 12 Woodstock Golf Club championships, several U. C. Women’s championships, two New York State Amateur Senior Women’s Championships, several Florida West Coast Women’s championships and placed 13th in the U.S. Amateur Senior Women’s championship in the early 60’s. Few women’s golf records in Ulster County or on the West Coast of Florida withstood her onslaught. However, winning was never more important to Wiggie than having fun, a silly hat, a “good” joke and a Pepsi!
Robin, a highly regarded leader in Woodstock, rarely played golf. Yet, throughout his short life, he unselfishly gave his time and considerable ingenuity to meet the burgeoning needs of the Woodstock Golf Club. Like his parents, Robin worked tirelessly to preserve the club for the enjoyment of present and future generations.
Phil, a successful antique and fine arts dealer, took on the task as manager in 1981. Though he had no background in the field of agronomy or golf, his knowledge of business and mechanics were invaluable. Through total commitment and devotion to the task, Phil was able to rejuvenate the membership, the golf course and buildings. His love of children and foresight helped to promote and develop a strong junior program. His devotion to the task and his commitment to succeed protected the Club from an uncertain future.
Liz, after her husband’s death in 1992, succeeded Phil as general manager of the Wood-stock Golf Club. She directed a comprehensive modernization of the club, including a major renovation of the men’s locker room with continuing annual improvements. For 27 years she had been a major force in this tournament. In the Woodstock community Liz was wide-ly known for her hospitality, readiness to help others and tenacious dedication to whatever task confronted her. We miss her deeply Andy Horvath with his wife Betty founded the DeLisio Memorial Tournament – 1st event July 1983. A true building block of the Woodstock Golf Club – a tournament now named in his honor & of golf in Ulster County receiving the Raichle award for distinguished service in 1986. He had over 30 years of service with the U.C. Senior Men’s Association.
This tournament is perpetuated by their friends and family in recognition of their out-standing contributions to the sport of golf. The net proceeds are donated to the Ulster County Special Olympics program.
