In case you missed it on Memorial Day, the game of the day is 2-Ball Match Play. (Some people call it 4-Ball.)
Never played? No worries. You will be paired with an experienced match play person you understand this fun variation on our game.
Match play is a golf game where the score is not the number of strokes you take, but the number of holes where your score was lower than the opposing team. In 2-person event, you have a teammate – so you are not carrying all the responsibility. In fact, it was mostly HER fault.
Each golfer plays her own ball throughout the round but after each hole, the two best scores between the team members are recorded and count as the score for the team for that hole. If lower than the other twosome, then you win the hole. And nothing carries over – each hole is a new game!
2-Ball Match Play is a low pressure, high fun way to learn some of the other games in the golf world. And, you will learn something about how golf handicaps* are used since all the scores are net. In fact, you will get to learn what “net” means. Too cool! This is also a great way to practice your match play to get ready for THE CUP.
