Liam Bartleson was born March 22, 2014 in Mason City, IA. Hours after birth, Mercy doctors noticed Liam having apneic episodes & decided it would be best to transfer him to University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital for further and better care. During his month of admission, Pediatric Neurologist’s identified his episodes as apneic seizures. Liam went home April 18th, 2014 and thereafter was in and out of UOISFCH every other week due to seizures not being able to be controlled at home. Liam would have 100-200 seizures daily, each seizure making his oxygen go down to life-threatening levels. After trying many unsuccessful anti-seizure medications, narcotics, and diets, doctors realized there wasn’t a medicine in the world that could save Liam. Liam was diagnosed July of 2014 with Malignant Migrating Partial Seizures in Infancy (MMPSI), one of the rarest forms of epilepsy in the world. Those who are clinically diagnosed with MMPS do not survive past infancy or early childhood. A Pediatric Neurologist at UOISFCH wanted to take on Liam’s case and after working so hard, she was able to get Liam on clinical study for Cannibidiol. He has been on Cannibidiol since 2014 and will for the rest of his life.
At 5 years old, Liam has amazed doctors all over the world. His success with Cannabidiol is a published story for doctors around to world. Even though Liam faces delays and daily challenges, he is still with us here today and that is what matters the most to us!
Liam’s parents are Mitch and Katy Bartleson. Mitch, child of Stephen Bartleson and Jody & Kevin Harmon, grew up in Forest City & has been employed with the Forest City Police Department for 8 years. Katy Bartleson, child of Thomas & Kat Montgomery, also grew up in Forest City and is a Cosmetologist and Salon Owner.

The Liam Bartleson Golf Fundraiser is a four-man best ball tournament. The entry fee is $50 per person. You will receive a specialized Liam logo golf towel. There will fun hole competitions to participate in. T-Shirts can be ordered (more details to follow). There will also be silent auction items available that day.

The fundraiser is to help raise money to renovate the Bartleson’s family bathroom. With Liam’s needs as he gets older, bathing has become difficult. The Bartleson would like to renovate their bathroom for wheelchair access to fit Liam’s needs.

After the tournament, the family invites everyone to stay to enjoy some food, cold beverages, and some music!
