The Alumni Brotherhood of the Sigma Pi Fraternity of UNC Asheville would like to invite UNC Asheville Alumni and all interested area golfers to participate in the Fourth Annual Joe Frick Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament. The tournament will be held on May 5, 2023 at the Omni Grove Park Inn, Asheville, NC.

About the Joe Frick Memorial Golf Tournament:

Joseph “Joe” Brian Frick was an Asheville native, a 1988 graduate from Asheville High and a 1993 graduate from UNC Asheville. He lost his battle with glioblastoma multiform brain tumors on February 2, 2010. While at UNC Asheville Joe was active in founding the Sigma Pi Fraternity, where he developed lifelong friendships.

Joe was a dedicated friend; upon his passing, fellow fraternity members created a scholarship fund in his name at UNC Asheville. All proceeds of the golf tournament will benefit the Joe Frick Scholarship Fund.

Tournament Details:

The tournament will be held on May 5, 2023, at the Omni Grove Park Inn. The tournament will be a scramble format. Each golfer will receive lunch and be invited to join a post-round reception at the conclusion of the tournament. Check-in begins at 1 PM the day of the tournament and Tee Off will be at 2:00 PM.

All players and sponsors will receive a giving letter from UNCA as portions of each player’s fees and sponsorships are tax deductible.

All tournament sponsors are welcomed to set up company or product promotions at registration or on the course.

What’s the refund policy?

– As the proceeds are of a charitable nature, refunds will not be issued.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

– While not necessary, we ask that you do bring the ticket to help with the check-in process.

Can I update my registration information?

Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?

– Yes, the individual who registered should contact Michelle Olson. Please note the charitable gift component will not be transferred to that individual.

Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn’t match the person who attends?

– No, We ask that you contact us prior to the tournament if you wish to transfer registration.

Weather Policy

– In the case of inclement weather, the event will not be canceled unless the course becomes unplayable, which will be determined by the course’s superintendent. If there is a cancellation, a rain date will be scheduled based on the course’s future availability.
