More Event Information

For 22 years we have been humbled by the kindness and generosity of individuals and businesses alike, who understand the importance of supporting the McGuirk Memorial Golf Tournament.

 Our August 11, 2017 tournament is a particularly meaningful one.  In November 2016, at the age of 85, our family lost its matriarch, its founder, its darling, Vanita McGuirk. Vanitas vision for this day was unwavering, her intent to eradicate cancer, undeterred. There wasn’t a person Vanita encountered in her day-to-day travels who was not approached, informed and recruited. It was simply impossible to say no to Vanita. Her diminutive stature housed an indomitable spirit and a Goliath-like resolve.  We honor her tireless efforts and pay homage to a life well-lived.  

In order to ensure the success of this very important fundraiser, we are seeking contributions to help defray the costs associated with the event, so that all funds raised can go directly toward the cancer treatment and research at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, MA. These monies target Gynecologic Oncology and the HOPES Program at the Mass General / North Shore Cancer Center, Danvers, MA. Our tax ID # is 04-1564655.

 Cancer is an  insidious  disease  that  taxes  families  in  countless  ways, physically,  financially  and emotionally. There is no more hopeless feeling than watching someone you love struggle with a devastating illness. Our family, too, has not been immune to the ravages of cancer, losing John McGuirk in 2003 and Eileen McGuirk in 2012. These losses fuel our commitment to this day, this cause. This year’s tournament will be held at The Meadows at Peabody, Peabody, MA and Awards Dinner at Spinelli’s of Lynnfield, MA.   

There are many ways in which you can contribute to our efforts. We offer Sponsorship Packages ranging from $150.00 to $15000.00. With your sponsorship, your company’s name will be displayed throughout our tournament, on our website, in our program book and on a banner.
