RULES OF PLAY AND CONDUCT CODE
Attire: Per Dogwood Golf Club rules, players must wear collared shirts. Golf shoes and sneakers can be worn on the course. Jeans and t-shirts are not allowed.
Shotgun Start: All teams will tee off promptly at 9:00 A.M. at different holes. Each team will receive their starting hole assignment at registration. Male players will tee off from the men’s tee-box and female players from the women’s tee-box.
Format: The tournament format will be a golf scramble, which means that all 4 members of the team will start by teeing off on each hole, then choosing to play from the best lie out of the 4 balls by the team through each successive hole.
Best Ball: Each player will place their ball within one club length of the best lie among the foursome. Players may not place their ball ahead of the best ball or in someway improve their lie, such as by removing the ball from the sand, rough or other hazards.
Scoring: It is the responsibility of each player to accurately mark their scorecard. Due to the “best ball” format, there will be only 1 score per hole for each team. After 18 holes are played, the team with the lowest total score will take home the tournament champion’s trophy. There will be a minimum 2 tee-shot rule for every hole, meaning that at least 2 players in a team must tee off at every hole.
Putting: The best ball format will also be in effect on the putting green. Each team must mark their best ball on the putting green. Then each player must place their ball within a putter-head length of the mark, and no closer to the hole than the mark.
Mulligans: May be purchased on the day of play at game day check-in. Each player may purchase a maximum of 1 mulligan. Players may not transfer their mulligans to another player. Mulligans cannot be used in contest holes, such as Closest to the Pin and Longest Drive. Any unused mulligans will be forfeited at the end of the round.
Closest to the Pin Contest: Will be on a par-3 hole and ball must be on the putting green.
Longest Drive Contest: Will be on a par-5 hole and ball must be on the fairway.
Pace of Play: Teams must complete their round in 4½ hours or less. Teams should keep pace with the team ahead of them. Marshals will be on the course to ensure pace of play, including ready golf.
Conduct Rule: The tournament officials will be responsible for proper conduct while on the golf course. Players are responsible for obeying the posted daily cart path rules, replacing divots, repairing ball marks on the green and raking sand traps. Unruly behavior, foul language, throwing of clubs or hitting shots into groups will be deemed improper conduct. All golfers will be expected to adhere to proper golf etiquette including ready golf.
