We are so excited to announce that the 4th Annual Wigged Out Golf Classic at the Arizona Biltmore Golf Club is nearly upon us.  On September 29th, 2017, we will return to the links to raise funds for the women and children that we hope to support this upcoming year.

The sponsorships, foursomes and raffle tickets purchased in last year’s tournament directly helped to provide over 80 women and children with wigs that they desperately needed and desired.  Included in this group was Kayla, who was diagnosed just days after her 18th birthday and weeks after high school prom and graduation.  Kayla initially “shaved as much as [she] could” and felt “[she] could handle it without hair” upon starting her chemo.  But as the chemotherapy progress and she lost all of her hair she no longer felt like herself.  Kayla said the wig “brought a familiarity” she desperately missed from the hair she lost.  Another recipient, Dolores, has battled Crohn’s and Hashimoto’s for the last 10 years.  When her treatment for the two diagnoses caused the loss of her “Lucille head of red hair”, Dolores applied to Wigged Out.  She wrote us later and shared that “the wig helped [her] self-esteem tremendously… for the first time in years [she] felt like [herself]”.  There is nothing more rewarding than knowing we were able to help someone feel comfortable in the midst of discomfort.  The funds generated during the golf tournament alone allow us to touch the lives of so many over the course of the following year.

Since February 2014 we have had the pleasure of assisting over 400 women and children by providing wigs and hair accessories, allowing them to feel beautiful and comfortable despite their circumstances.  It has been an incredibly rewarding experience to provide this comfort to women and children that otherwise would not have the resources to purchase a wig or the accessories they need.  Judy, 56, who made the decision not to share her diagnosis with some individuals at her workplace, shared that Wigged Out allowed her to maintain the anonymity that was so important to her.
