ARMS is hosting its 7th Annual Jerry Wallace Memorial Golf Tournament at Stonebridge Golf Course on Friday, August 17, 2018. We are currently looking for sponsors to help us underwrite the cost of this event.

ARMS uses the funds raised by this tournament to help cover our daily operating expenses for the year. ARMS has a mission to provide support, advocacy, and education for all affected by Autism. We fulfill that mission through our family support night. One evening a month we will provide childcare for infants and toddlers, Lego Club for our young children on the Spectrum, SibShops (a support group for siblings), A preteen to young adult club for children on the autism spectrum, and parent support and training. We also host sensory friendly films at Malco Theater as well as our Holiday Parties every November where we provide an environment where our children can come and have their pictures made with Santa. We also host an extremely lively New Years Eve party for individuals on the Autism Spectrum. You would be amazed at how many of our children have never had their pictures with Santa or attended a party of any kind. As a mother with a son with Autism, that is one thing I greatly missed. We also host Halloween and New Year Eve Events.

We have trained special education advocateds to help families navigate a myriad of issues in the school system in addition to a legislative team that works with state agencies and state legislators to pass laws to improve the lives of those living with Autism. This year we passed our Drivers License Bill that allows a special designation to be added to a Drivers License upon request, to alert emergency personnel that the person they are working with has a Developmental Disability.

In 2015 we also stared a satellite group in Jackson Tennessee so that we could expand our mission to those in that region. In 2018 started a group in that will meet annually in Tipton County.

We continue to help families navigate the vast school systems. We offer advocacy workshops and trainings for our families. We also assist at IEP meetings when needed. We work with agencies throughout Tennessee on getting insurance reform so that the therapies that research show is beneficial for individuals with Autism will be covered under their parents insurance plans. We do all of this and much, much more both here and in our satellite office in Jackson, Tennessee.
