Hello, I’m Robert Morton,
I have been diagnosed with end stage renal failure. For the last 3.5 years I have been on dialysis 4 times a week. I’m in need of a new kidney and pray that we find a live donor (The best option for my survival) very soon.
My kidney failure is due to high blood pressure, which I have battled with all my life. Receiving a kidney donation will not only stabilize my blood pressure, but also save my life. I’ve done everything that I can do to stay in shape and keep my labs on par, in an effort to stay prepared for a new kidney. I am currently active on transplant list in Ohio, Indiana, and Iowa. The average wait time for kidney is 5-7 years. Cadaver (organ transplanted out of owner after his/her death) kidneys have an average survival rate of 65%, whereas a live donation survival rate is 90%.
The purpose of this golf outing is to raise awareness and encourage people to become an organ donors. Clinical representatives will be onsite to inform people about various ways that the can register to help me or others stay strong.
If you or someone you know is interested in being potential live kidney donor for me, please contact:
Indiana University Health Hospital Live Donor Coordinator, at 317-944-4370 and identify yourself as a potential live donor for Robert Morton
or
UC Health Hospital, at 513-584-7001 and identify yourself as a potential live donor for Robert Morton
My insurance will cover all of your costs from the initial testing, all the way up to the surgery.
There are two ways to donate:
1. Matching my blood type, which is O
2. A paired exchange match.
A paired exchange match is where you do not match my blood type, but match another person in need. I then receive a kidney from another patient’s donor who matches my blood type.
