The Bruce Baskin Golf Classic and Leo Jacob Golf Classic will take place together on Monday, July 10, 2017 at Firestone Country Club. Our golf tournament at Firestone is the longest-standing event for the Northern Ohio Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation as well as Firestone Country Club taking place annually for 44 years. The Bruce Baskin Golf Classic was renamed in 2006 to bear Bruce?s name because he had a profound impact on both the tournament and CF Foundation for nearly 20 years. Bruce was born in 1959 when there was little optimism for those with CF, but he beat the odds, became extremely accomplished professionally and most importantly, was a devoted husband and father. The Leo Jacob Golf Classic began as a challenging 54-hole tournament designed to raise funds and awareness about CF, and the ?CF Open? was renamed in honor of Leo, a past participant in the event, who lost his battle with CF in May 2004. Throughout his 44-year battle with CF and despite a difficult lung transplant, Leo remained an avid golfer and a strong advocate for the CF Foundation. Both men led their lives with courage and extraordinary effort that had a lasting impact on all those who know them and beyond. Their families, friends and colleagues continue the fight against cystic fibrosis through the Golf Classics while giving hope to those with the disease and in loving memory of Bruce and Leo.
