More Event Information
In 2011 a one of a kind event was born – The Patriot All-America Invitational featuring the best of the best in collegiate golf from every NCAA division plus special invitees.
In 2014 a one of a kind event area was created – The Maverick’s Corral. The Corral has become the elite hangout located on the course next to the 18th green along with the VIP skybox platform between the 12th tee and the 16th green. Continental breakfast will be available in the morning and during play, The Corral offers exclusive up-close views of play, beverages, and food throughout the day.
A field of 84 PING All-America golfers from all three NCAA Divisions, NAIA and NJCAA rankings as well as from universities outside the United States will compete in a 54-hole, stroke-play competition on The Wigwam’s famed Gold Course. Competitive rounds for the 2017 Patriot All-America will be played December 29, 30 and 31 with a champion crowned at approximately 4 PM on New Year’s Eve.
This year 11 all American college golfers from last year have confirmed for the event including Ole Miss golfer and NCAA individual champion Braden Thornberry who is currently ranked #2 in the world amateur golf rankings. Last year, past players in the Patriot won 2 major championships(Brooks Koepka/Justin Thomas), 8 PGA tour events, Ncaa individual champion, US Amateur Champion, 3 President Cup team members, 3 Walker Cup members.
Past Patriot All-America champions include: Braden Thornberry from the University of Mississippi (2015); Kyle Kochevar from the University of Virginia (2014), Kyle Westmoreland from the Air Force Academy (2013); Sebastian Cappelen from the University of Arkansas (2012); and Cory Whitsett, from the University of Alabama (2011).
The Arizona Golf Association (AGA), JDM Partners and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) are once again partnering with the Folds of Honor Foundation to host the 7th annual tournament. The tournament continues to receive tremendous community support by a variety of local businesses and organizations including The Thunderbirds, host organization of the Waste Management Phoenix Open and the West Valley Mavericks civic charity group.
In cooperation with the Folds of Honor Foundation, the golfers in The Patriot All-America will continue the tradition to represent a fallen soldier. Every participant will receive a golf bag at the event’s opening ceremony with the name and branch of service of a fallen or injured military member whom they shall represent. At the conclusion of the tournament, the golf bags will be shipped to players’ schools and auctioned with all proceeds benefitting the Folds of Honor Foundation, which provides post-secondary educational scholarships for children and spouses of military service men and women killed or disabled while in active service.
