The objective of this program is to build relationships between local fire service organizations and the communities we serve by sponsoring sports mini camps for African American middle school athletes. Mini camps will be collaborations between local fire departments and professional athletes with middle school and community sports organizations. The F.I.R.E. Retirees recognizes that sports programs build character, strength, and critical thinking skills. The mini camps will support that skill-building in all disciplines: football, basketball, baseball, hockey, soccer, tennis, golf (T-master) and promote jobs in the fire service and emergency medical fields. We believe if we teach a young person how to save a life, they are less likely to take a life.
