For all of the New people:
This is a golf tournament held in the memory of Ryan Minnaar and Aaron Willea. Ryan Minnaar lost his battle to Cancer in January of 2011. He was 32 years old, Married to my sister Trisha, and father to Mikey and Makayla. Aaron Willea was a member of the US NAVY and was taken from us far too soon in a motorcycle accident 11 years ago. They were two amazing people that we all miss the hell out of and hold with us every day…

Its almost here!!! Your favorite golf tournament of the year is upon us again! Thank you to everyone who made it out last year, the party bus was epic! J baby and Shannon get the MVPs of the 2016 tournament. I believe Joels team won (but we later found out they had 5 people so they definitely have an asterisk next to that win).

Here is an update on the kids:
Mikey is now 8. He is still playing piano, in his third year of baseball, and loving life. He joined Ninja Zone and Chess Club this past year; don’t mess with this ninja Bobby Fisher! He was a perfect student all year and is now going into the 3rd grade. Makayla is now 14. I had the pleasure of spending the past year in Michigan and HOLY SHIT, I don’t know how Trisha does it. hahaha. JK. Makayla is a straight A student, she is an AMAZING dancer and blossoming into the most beautiful young lady that Ryan and Aaron would be so proud of. I won’t even mention the fact that she is starting drivers training!!! I cant say enough about Trisha and the job she does. She is an amazing mom and the best role model Mikey and Makayla could ask for. This past year Trisha stepped into the world of dating again and bachelor number three, Joel VanAelst, is the lucky guy!!! He is amazing with the kids and they are lucky to have him around.

This is our 7th year of the tournament and we have had a couple sponsors that have been with us every single year. Mike Rose and his family are one of those sponsors. Each year they reach into their pockets and help Trisha and the kids without hesitation. This past March, Mike’s daughter Tegan was diagnosed with leukemia. Mike, your family has always been there for Trisha, Makayla, and Mikey so this year they want to be there for Tegan by donating all of the money made during the tournament to your family. We are usually a small golf tournament where everyone knows everyone, but this year we are going to invite anyone who wants to support Tegan. Check out her Facebook page: Team Tegan

Now for the logistics:
Sadly we had to move the tournament from hickory knoll due to them already having an outing of 50 people booked and apparently the course management is not capable of handling two Outings at the same time (let alone tying their shoes each morning). I’ll leave it at that. We will now have the tournament at west Ottawa golf club! They are very excited to have us and we are excited to play a new course. Its a little more expensive so the entry fee went from $75 up to $80. It’s gonna be awesome!

The tournament will be a scramble with teams of 4 people each. It will be a SHOTGUN START at 9:00 am. Registration at 8:00 am. It is $320 per team or $80 per golfer. That will include 18 holes and a cart, beer, lunch, a sweet t-shirt, and some other junk. If anyone is interested in sponsoring a hole let me know; it is $150 to sponsor a hole and you will get signage at the hole of your choice;).

So we can start moving forward and see how many teams we are going to have, can you all please post your teams on the page as soon as possible (along with tank top sizes for each golfer)? If you’re not a golfer or don’t have a full team, come out anyway! Just let me know and we will put you on a team. Volunteers and helpers are welcome as well!!
