More Event Information
We are pleased to announce that we are planning another in-person Virginia Chapter of Tax Executives Institute meeting on November 10th that will be held at Kinloch Golf Club. Our technical session will focus on the most recent proposed federal Build Back Better Tax reform changes, and the recent OECD activity including the proposed global minimum tax. We welcome speakers from PwC to lead the presentations, hosted by Chris McGowan. The technical session will begin at 1PM and conclude at 4 PM, to be followed by a happy hour with heavy hors d’oeuvres and beverages to be served. Dress is business casual, but it is highly encouraged that you not wear jeans. Upon entering the club, you need to announce you are attending the TEI / PwC tax event. You may earn up to 3 hours of CPE for this event depending on your time in attendance.
The following topics will be discussed:
The Latest on the Build Back Better Tax Reform
As companies attempt to do their best to engage in planning to try to anticipate changes in upcoming federal tax legislation, we will take a closer look at the latest proposal in the House Rules Committee legislative text from October 28th. While the increase in the corporate tax rate is missing from this, a good portion of the changes to the international provisions remain including many pertaining to GILTI (C by C, reducing the Sec 250 benefit) and foreign tax credits changes. This session will discuss these proposed recent changes, including the inclusion of the proposed new 15% corporate minimum tax rate and its impact.
OECD activities
Recently the G-20 Finance ministers endorsed a global minimum tax focused on tax countries in which companies record sales rather than where the profit is ultimately recorded. This happened after 136 governments reached consensus to resolve key differences over the minimum rate and to end new digital taxes that the U.S. deemed discriminatory. The session will focus on these recent developments and where this puts the OECD in accordance with its Pillar One and Pillar Two initiatives.
The technical session will run from 1:00PM – 4:00PM, and will provide 3 hours of CPE. The cost is $35.
As part of our COVID-19 protocols we ask that all participants fill out a liability waiver and a health screening form to confirm your well being prior to the event. These forms will be emailed to registrants prior to the event and we ask that you fill them out and bring them with you. Copies of the forms will also be available at the event if needed.
Deadline for registration is Tuesday, November 9th.
